A diet that is low in fat is beneficial because it reduces the risk of a person getting cancer and heart disease. A diet with a lot of fat in it is responsible often times for these conditions. Consuming foods lower in fat is better for the body because it keeps the potential for these diseases to occur at a much lower rate.

All diets contain some fat in them but there is a difference between the types of them. Saturated fats are a bad fat which is found in processed foods, junk foods, and desserts. Foods such as these usually contain a high level of saturated fat.

Unsaturated fats are much better for the body as opposed to the saturated kind. There are two types of unsaturated fats; polyunsaturated and monounsaturated. These can be found in healthy foods like fish, nuts, avocados, plant seeds and oils, and olives. This type actually helps you lower you cholesterol. But keep in mind that these need to be consumed in moderation because too much is not a good thing.
