The Pros And Cons Of Acne Medication

July 10th, 2011

Few things are more effective in ruining our day than the sight of acne erupting on our face. Modern times dictate that we put a premium on how we look, as presentation has been given more prominence by the demands of this age. Acne can immediately place such goals in jeopardy. Thankfully, a variety of acne medications are available in the market.

However, not all acne medications are beneficial for us. Some can even be harmful, depending on how our bodies would be receptive, or unreceptive, to the same. Before you consider acne medication to cure acne breakout, do consider the things that would be discussed in this article.

Acne medications are certainly meant for good purposes. Below are some of the benefits you could derive from them.

1. Acne medication can stop the breakout of acne. This is because of the substances that are included in them. These ingredients include anti-oxidants like Vitamin C, Vitamin E, and alpha lipoic acid that can easily prevent the buildup of oil. The accumulation of oil on the face is the number one cause for acne breakout.

2. Acne medication can make our skin sturdier against acne attacks in the future. Vitamin E alone can make our skin healthier. These are collateral benefits that can be derived from using acne medication, and they are very much welcome indeed.

3. Acne medication would also help eliminate the scars that would be left by acne. Acne medication usually stimulates the production of collagen, an insoluble fibrous protein that would help the skin rejuvenate at a relatively fast rate.

But acne medications also make us susceptible to some unwanted perils. Let’s take a look at the disadvantages of using the same.

1. Acne medication is not for everybody. Sometimes, acne medication includes hypoallergenic substances that would trigger, or make worse, existing allergies. If you are allergic to these substances, you should avoid them. Also, if you use acne medication and you start to suffer from allergic symptoms afterwards, you might have an allergy that you were not previously aware of. In which case, you would also have to cease your usage of the medicine.

2. Acne medication has other side effects as well, depending on the condition of the body of the person planning to ingest the same.

3. Acne medication is not really affordable. Some kinds come at a high price rate.

After considering the pros and cons of acne medication, you would more or less have an idea on whether or not this approach is the right one for you. It is recommended that you consult with a medical professional to determine if your body can accommodate acne medication without having to suffer from disastrous symptoms afterwards.

Alternatives To Accutane For Acne Treatment Options

January 24th, 2011

Accutane is an acne drug that was developed by a pharmaceutical drug company to treat acne but in my opinion it does way more than it should by treating acne but along with that other things in the body which causes health problems as well. The reason I recommend that people stay away from accutane at all costs is because my brother was born with a birth defect because of this drug and my mother also has suffered health issues because of this drug too. I have seen the dangers of this drug firsthand and highly encourage you to stay away from it because from what I have seen and from the research i’ve done it shouldn’t have even been released in the market in the first place.

The problem with this drug is that it causes toxicity and quite a few problems on your internal organs such as your liver. This causes stress on the body and health problems on internal organs that would not be caused otherwise. I have found that accutane can cause many different side effects along with the one’s I was aware of originally so I want to share with you what the drug can do so that you can make a better educated decision as to whether it’s right for you or not.

Accutane has been shown to have many “side” effects but honestly the drug is so toxic that it seems like everyone who get’s on it has health problems from it regardless of if they know it or not yet. Take my mother for example, she took it and got rid of her acne fairly quicker and it wasn’t until years later when my brother was born that the birth defect was known and then it wasn’t until years later after that she found out she had cancer and liver problems along with that. It has shown to have side effects such as crohn’s disease, inflammatory bowel disease, severe depression, suicidal thoughts, birth defects and liver damage and possibly even more.

I don’t know about you but this list is scary enough for me to stay away from this drug and not even consider taking it. Of course my personal experience will play into this because I have seen my brother’s accutane birth defect first hand and it is not a health benefiting drug to take. My mother also had cancer years after she had my brother and had colon and liver problems and during that time they found traces of accutane in her body.

I personally recommend a natural acne treatment process that is much less toxic and much more safe. To learn more about accutane side effects and accutane alternatives visit the website below.

Take care and have a great day!

Low Cost Acne Treatments

January 21st, 2011

Acne treatments that are good and don’t cost a fortune

Acne is a terrible skin disease that can be very expensive to treat. The expenses may be beyond the means of most people. There are as good and potent home made acne treatments that can cost you a fraction of the normal cost. The home made remedies do take a longer time but are more gentle on the skin. There are none of the side effects of modern medicines.

Some well known home made remedies

The two most popular remedies in use for a long time are the ones that use baking soda and tea tree oil. Baking soda is the more popular of the two treatments. It is a very alkaline substance that has excellent anti bacterial properties. It is also effective in arresting the spread of acne to other parts of the skin. For treating acne take about one teaspoon of baking soda and make a paste of it with a little water. Clean the affected area with some acne soap or some good cleanser. Then gently massage the baking soda paste on the area around the acne lesion and then rinse. Tea tree oil is also known to be very effective in destroying acne causing bacteria. Studies have shown that it is as effective as benzoyl peroxide in fighting acne. The way to use tea tree oil is to take a little bit of it on a cotton swab and apply directly on the acne pimple. Don’t use too much of the oil. Tea tree oil is available at the natural foods market or at any health food store.

Areas where you need to be careful

Gently scrub the skin when you are cleaning. Hard scrubbing can worsen the acne condition. Use a cleanser that suits your skin. Stay away from cleansers that contain chemicals that can hurt your skin. Home made remedies take time to show results but make the skin healthy and less irritable. Never use any skin product without getting the physician’s nod. That applies even to home made products. You must drink lots of water and switch over to a low carb diet.

The Benefit Of Great Skin Care Habits

November 27th, 2010

If acne is in your genes and you suffered from it as a child, you may not be surprised to see it develop on your children’s faces. There may even be an attitude that this is a natural part of growing up and there may be a temptation to overlook it. This is a mistake. Acne is more than just a few pimples and blackheads in a teenager’s life. It can have detrimental effects on self-esteem and cause huge emotional turmoil.

Vitamins have long been known to work wonders with acne. Others prefer lemon oil. Others take herbs internally like sarsaparilla, yellow dock, and burdock. Some people believe sunshine and lemon juice works wonders.

Whether it is the topical creams made with vitamin A bought through your skin care specialist, or simply upping your daily vitamin intake, this acne treatment natural option is very effective. However, there are limits and safe guidelines for increasing your vitamin intake. Vitamin A, if taken in excessive dosages, can cause birth defects and decrease bone density, among other side effects.

Many people avoid fatty or greasy foods, milk and dairy products, sodas, and shellfish and concentrate on adding fresh fruits and vegetables to their diet as well. Try to increase your water intake to hydrate the skin more too. This may lead to an overproduction of oils in the skin, which causes more clogged pores and more pimples. They can use treatments like benzoyl peroxide and vitamin A treatments and sometimes they don’t even have to add a moisturizing lotion to keep it from being too drying.

Before people went to the dermatologist or skin care specialist for acne cures, many home remedies were used that relied on facial masks made from different food. Everyone knows that cucumber slices are good for puffy eyes, but how many people are aware that lemon juice or vinegar can be use on acne?

There are a plethora of different foundation colors for different skin types. Anything that goes on your skin has to match your skin type, and a skin acne treatment is no different. Black skin requires more moisturizing that white skin, so topicals like benzoyl peroxide can be very harsh on black skin. However, retinoids can be used.

Some of these ideas may surprise you when you read about them. There is a wealth of information available online on how to treat acne the natural way. It includes information on diet, home remedies, herbal cures, and even homeopathic cures (a system of prescribing small doses of similar substances involved that cause the ailment to create an immune system response).

Many nutritionists and holistic healers claim proper diet is key to maintaining good skin. Avoiding greasy foods and eating an unprocessed, unrefined diet that restricts alcohol, caffeine, and sugar appears to be beneficial to some people.

An excess of confusion about grownup acne medicine it’s occasion for skin answers during you finger tips.

Finding A Cure For Teenagers With Acne

September 19th, 2010

The best part of your life could be the days you spend as a teenager. What would be the worst thing being a teenager? If you ask most teenagers I am sure the answer is going to be acne.

The much frightening scourge of the teens, acne affects many people by reducing their self-confidence and making them more anxious about their appearance. . Acne medication in that sense is not just medicine for the body but for the personality as a whole.

Acne comes in several forms like zits, blackheads, pimples and whiteheads. Therefore, it is always better to seek professional advice prior to the usage of acne medication. Wrong type of acne medication could leave your face as scarred as ever, only your wallet a little bit lighter.Worse is that it could lead to health problems later on.

The causes of acne should also be mentioned when referring to acne medication as the two are closely linked. Many reasons may contribute to the formation of acne although the most common ones are hormonal activity, bacteria, stress and in some cases steroids. Depending on the cause the acne medication could also change at times but general acne medication is available everywhere.

There are some important things to note where acne medication is concerned. One of the first things to remember is that all medication should be used in proper quantities. Using an excessive amount is unlikely to resolve the problem. Attempting cures which promise instant results may have catastrophic effects. Severe acne will take time to heal whatever the acne medication you might be using.

You could find an array of creams or lotions in pharmacies proclaiming to heal you in matter of days. Beware of such acne medication; it is unlikely that they are of high quality. Lotions and creams should be applied softly so as not to break any pimples.Broken pimples could deteriorate your acne problem. To ensure effectiveness, the acne medication should be used on a regular basis The course of medication should be followed as long as it is needed. In short besides your type of acne medication, the method you used it also matters.

Getting onto expenses, yes acne medication might be somewhat costly. But for anyone who views appearance to be critical it would be an expense for a good cause. Always remember to check whether your acne medicationis from a reliable, reputed firm. Correct acne medication could greatly help improve your appearance and could give a boost to your self confidence.

The True Cause Of Acne: An Insight

September 13th, 2010

Image via Wikipedia

Read this amazing article to find out about the true cause of acne, which will go a long way in helping you find the best cure for acne too…

The first step of curing acne stats with understanding the True Cause of Acne : Understanding the Actual Problem and eliminating it

Before doing anything else you have to first understand what causes your acne. Like any other problem in your life if you want to cure your acne permanently you have to first understand the actual factors that cause your acne. If you don’t understand what actually causes your acne, what are the internal factors that trigger this condition you will never be able to cure your acne completely. This is one truth that no do doctor or dermatologist will ever tell you. But once you understand this truth you’ll be able to also understand why no cream, lotion or medication has not been able to cure your acne. And understanding this truth will also be empowered by that knowledge that will help you cure your acne permanently.

The Factors that do not Cause Acne

Your doctor, friends, colleagues, anyone may say it a hundred times but believe me your clogged pores are not responsible for your acne. Neither are your acne caused by acne bacteria. Nor are they caused by any vitamin b5 deficiency or by eating the wrong food. If these were true then everyone would be suffering from acne. But we know that I not the truth everyone does not suffer from acne. Acne are caused by some deep rooted internal factors. There is a basic difference between the symptoms of a disease and the actual root cause. You have to understand the difference between treatments that only cover up the symptoms and one that targets the root cause of the problem.

There are Three Main Factors that Cause Acne

After researching for a permanent cure for acne I have been able to find the true cause of acne . In fact there are three specific factors that cause acne. Acne are caused by hormone imbalance, the build up of toxins in the body and a genetic sensitivity of the sebum glands to this hormonal imbalance.

Let us first understand the first factor: Our body uses the hormones to interact between the different organs. The androgenic hormones like testosterone tell the sebum glands how much sebum or oil these glands will secrete. With the right hormone balance the sebum glands produce the right amount of oil to keep our skin soft, elastic and moisturized. But with hormonal imbalance the sebum glands start producing excessive sebum or oil.

Now the question that comes up is when all teenagers suffer from hormonal imbalance why only a few of them suffer from acne. The answer to this question lies in the second factor i.e hormonal imbalance.

Toxins build up in our body when we breathe, come in contact, eat or drink lots of toxic elements, which our elimination organs i.e. our liver, kin, kidney etc fail to expel from our body. These toxins then start accumulating in our blood stream, tissues and lymph.

Only when a certain type of accumulated toxin comes in contact with the excess sebum does it lead to the perfect environment for the acne bacteria to grow and flourish. And then acne are formed in all its glory with swelling, pus and redness of skin accompanying it. This is the reason that just killing the acne bacteria won’t solve the problem because as long as the certain toxics and excess sebum is present the acne bacteria will keep coming back.

But then there are so many people who are suffering from hormone imbalance and also have toxic build ups in their body and yet they don’t suffer from acne. Why?

This brings us to the third factor: the genetic sensitivity of the sebum glands towards the hormonal imbalance. Only when someone has got this particular genetic sensitivity then only his or her sebum glands start producing excess oil. People who have the first two factors but do not have this particular genetic sensitivity of their sebum glands towards hormonal imbalance do not produce excess oil and hence they do not suffer from acne.

Weak Liver does Not Cause Acne (What differentiates acne sufferers and those who have clear skin?)

The liver is surely an important organ of our body and among its various functions; the liver is also responsible for expelling the used hormones and toxins from our system. But the liver is definitely the cause of acne .

When the liver is weak it does in a way lead to hormonal imbalance as it fails to expel used hormones. And also it helps in the accumulation of toxins as it fails to get rid of the toxic elements. But a weak liver does not cause acne. If you do not suffer from the genetic sensitivity then you won’t have acne even if you have a weak liver.

The actual difference between people who have acne and them who do not have acne is not the absence or presence of a strong liver; rather it is the presence or absence of the particular genetic tendency.

The conclusion: The actual cause of any kind of acne; be it female monthly acne, adult acne or teen acne is the same: hormonal imbalance, accumulation of toxins in the body and the genetic sensitivity of the sebum glands to hormonal imbalance.

Learn How to Tackle this Root Cause

As we cannot control our genetic tendencies we have to neutralize the hormonal imbalance and clear our system of toxic elements. Making our liver strong will only help in a small way. Since hormonal imbalance and toxic build ups are triggered by various internal and external factors you need an honest treatment that will take care of every factor responsible and clear our acne from within.

What Are The New Acne Treatments Available?

September 8th, 2010

Discover in this amazing in-depth article facts about the various new acne treatments available in the market and whether they really are what they claim to be.

What you should look for, if you are in search of an innovative cure for acne, is a treatment that is tailored to the needs of your specific condition and will ensure a permanent restoration to health. There are numerous new products that are available but you must be careful to ensure that you pick a remedy which focuses on the root cause of your acne and cures it and doesn’t simply tackle the symptoms. I have been investigating acne treatments for the last 12 years and have discovered through trial and error that many of the so-called antidotes newly launched in the market such as the diode laser therapy do not combat the internal problems that cause acne. The outcome therefore is only temporary.

New antibiotic medication and ointments in various permutations and combinations are available either over the counter or with doctor’s prescriptions but none of them promise a permanent surefire cure. For instance a combination of either oral antibiotics and Retinoids or topical antibiotics and Benzoyl peroxide would only destroy the P. acnes bacteria which in turn would lessen the swelling and redness. Since these medications are addressing the superficial acne symptoms, they will be unable to provide either a permanent cure or control chronic and enduring attacks of acne in the future.

New acne treatments which try to control bacteria succeed in a limited way by lessening the soreness and infection and also encourage the development of new skin cells. However, all the internal causes like hormonal imbalances and toxins in the blood stream remain untreated leading to frequent recurrences of acne.

Other new age treatments for acne like Pulse light energy, Blue Light or Diode Laser therapy while killing the P.acne bacteria also destroy the oil producing sebum glands and harm the moisture balance and texture of the skin . Excess oil produced by the glands and acne bacteria do aggravate the acne problem but are not the cause. Unless you first fix the hormonal imbalance within your system this acne problem will continue.

Newer treatments for acne for example like Chemical peels and microdermabrasion suffer from the same lacuna. They do surely get rid of blackheads and whiteheads, they encourage new skin to grow and appreciably perk up the tone and texture of your skin but they don’t cure acne. They improve the overall condition of your skin but because they don’t deal with the root cause of the problem, your acne attacks and consequent scarrings will not cease.

This is the reason why the natural holistic acne treatment has always guaranteed a 100% success rate without any side effects. It is a treatment that uses a multi pronged approach by cleansing the whole system of toxins, monitoring the diet, strengthening the liver, providing anti acne supplements. By addressing both the mind and the body it changes our way of life so that we can reap its benefits. Is it not a better option than using drugs that leave you with side effects and no permanent cure?

Find Out The Best Acne Scaring Treatments Here

August 12th, 2010

A big question to someone suffering from acne is whether acne scaring treatments work and what are the best acne methods to take care of this situation.

The question that disturbs every acne sufferer who has acne scars is about the best acne scaring treatment available in the market. There are in fact various types of acne scaring treatments that target scars made by different types of acnes. But if you are still suffering from acne break outs then the best way is to prevent future acnes and then to deal with the existing scars.

Let us now know about the best acne scaring treatments available in the market: you can use an antioxidant gel which contains herbal extracts. It will help lift your skin, repair the damaged tissues and even its skin tone. For the blemishes you have the Manuka face cream. It is moisturizing cream rich in manuka honey with its antiseptic qualities, the balancing effects of cedarwood and the soothing effects of the lavender. You can effectively use the neem oil to eliminate the acne bacteria; it is also excellent in reducing the scars. You also have the choice of the very popular Rosa mosqueta. It is natural oil containing essential fatty acids. It has the potency to reduce even very old scars and it also makes the kin look fresher and smooth.

Most acne scars fade away with time hence the scar treatments that have been mentioned can help you a lot. But there are a few severe acne marks that might require surgery or cosmetic professional acne scar treatments.

Injecting collagen under the skin to deal with soft, mild scars that are too deep or shallow is an effective acne scaring treatment.

Another effective acne scaring treatment is Microdermabrasion. But it does not work for very severe acnes. In this process the top layer is scrapped off and that enhances and stimulates growth of the new cell.

Another very effective way is laser resurfacing. Laser rays are used to flatten and then resurfacing the skin. But there is a side effect to this otherwise very effective way, and that being redness of the skin, infection and in some cases worsening of the scars.

MSM and Alpha lipoic acid can be effectively used to reduce the red marks. Dermabrasion or laser resurfacing can be effectively used to treat ice pick scars. Collagen injection helps deal with mild scars. Keloids acne scars are effectively treated with injecting steroids, laser treatment and laser vaporization.

Another very easy and simple way of accelerating the healing up of acne scars is by changing your diet. It can help in healing the wound faster and renews the ruined skin tissues. Research conducted on rats has proved the fact that a diet based on fat causes high inflammation rates, lows down repair of the damaged cells and impairs blood synthesis. Substituting high fact diet with reduced fat foods can positively affect the wound and scar healing process. The food quality also affects the skin’s scar healing process. Taking a daily doe of zinc, and vitamin a and e also helps in repairing the cell.

But the best way to treat acne scars and that too without any side effects is to prevent acnes from occurring. It has been proved that the holistic approach neutralizes the internal causes and environment that leads to acnes. So by stopping the acnes from forming you can prevent any scars from taking place. One that has been achieved you can used the bet acne scaring treatments mentioned above in order to eliminate your acne scars completely.

Does Your Acne Need A Doctor?

July 30th, 2010

For many people who suffer from acne, it can be a bit of a nightmare. Whether male or female, individuals of different ages can have acne. These individuals have to know that their treatment for acne is actually working.

It’s possible you have spent quite a lot of money on various treatments for your acne which haven’t worked as well as you wanted them to. If you are unhappy with the results of these acne treatments, you might need to take a new approach to your acne treatment.

For the majority of people, over the counter acne treatments will successfully combat their acne. However, some types of acne exist which are more difficult to treat and which will need medical treatment. It is not just severe acne which may need medical treatment, and you should see your doctor if you have any doubts.

If you need an appointment with a dermatologist, this will be advised by your doctor. You will then have the advantage of professional treatment to tackle your acne. Additionally, a referral means that some people will be eligible for subsidized treatment contributed to by their insurer.

Going to the doctor has another benefit, it means that you will no longer have to self-diagnose and find what treatment works best for you by trial and error.

Before seeing your doctor, there are one or two things which you should do in order to be able to explain your situation better. You should first make a note of the details of which treatments you tried in the past. Also write down the various skin products you have used plus a note of which ones worked, and how long they worked for.

If you haven’t had any success with over the counter treatments, you need to tell the doctor. It could be that you have been using products which are not for your type of skin, and a lack of professional knowledge means that you do not know if there are alternatives available.

Your dermatologist will give you advice about which acne treatment will suit you the best, and which will give you the best possible results. This will mean that in the long term, you will achieve more satisfactory results.

To summarize, if you are in any way concerned about the effectiveness of your present treatments, you shouldn’t hesitate to make an appointment and get some help from your doctor.
