November 2nd, 2010

Most of the people especially the adolescent girls and boys dread getting acne in their faces. It is an extremely sensitive subject for these people and they get worked up due to the fact that acne will leave behind scars on the face.

People may not be as bothered about the acne or the blackheads as much as they are bothered about the scars on their face.

An Article Related To One Of The Most Common Type Of Skin Problem

October 31st, 2010

I’m sure I’m not alone in that my acne gave me problems for years. I fought with it for over a decade and I was only able to get rid of it for good by visiting a doctor. For the several years that I had acne, however, everyone I knew tried to advise me on what was causing it.

I was told that acne is caused by eating too much fried, greasy food. As it turns out, there’s actually no relation between the two. Parents like to use it as a way of discouraging their children from eating these unhealthy foods, but there’s no actual link there. It is true, however, that getting grease on your skin can clog up the pores and lead to flare ups.

Another myth that I was told regarding acne was that it’s caused my poor hygiene. Not washing your face actually doesn’t cause acne in any way because breakouts are caused by dead skin and oil under the facial skin. It’s always a good idea to practice good personal hygiene, but in this case, it wasn’t the solution I needed.

Tanning or sun exposure were suggested as cures. Although the darkening of the skin helps cover up the acne a little, it’s still not a cure. This advice could have far-reaching health consequences in that too much sun or tanning can lead to skin cancer. It also tends to age the skin prematurely.

Here are some of the actual, 100% true facts about acne.

Try to keep your hair from hanging on your face. Your hair contains natural oils that clog up the pores on your face, which can cause acne. Keep your hair off your face to avoid this problem.

Makeup is sometimes responsible for breakouts. If you think that your makeup is causing your acne, look for the special brands that are made for people with such problems. You might find that it eliminates your acne completely.

Being stressed can lead to breakouts. It doesn’t always happen, but it has been known to occur, and it’s especially prevalent in some people.

If you suspect that your breakouts are stress-related, think about your recent stress levels when your next breakout occurs. If the two seem to be related, you might be able to reduce your acne by eliminating your stress.

Acne: History And Solutions

October 20th, 2010

All over the world, numerous debates have begun because of acne. It was not that acne became a widespread disease, rather it was more of the different opinions people have about acne and how to best deal with acne problems that may come along the way.

The fact of the matter is that acne does not just manifest itself on the face, rather it can appear all over a person’s body. Areas that are commonly occupied by acne include neck, chest, back, shoulders, and upper arms. There are also some instances where acne appears in other unsuitable areas not stated above.

Acne is brought about by overactive oil glands, proliferation of acne-causing bacteria, as well as the overabundance of dead skin cells. Through the combination of oil and excessive dead skin cells, pores are then blocked and soon create blackheads. When this is aggravated, it then causes pimples or infections. The blockage that becomes blackheads often multiply, and in most cases transforms into pimples or other infected forms due to bacteria invasion.

There are actually several ways to treat acne problems and keep it away. Some of the quick methods to treat acne include medicinal gels, skin care products, while some use herbal medicines to cure acne. Some people recommend the use of benzoyl peroxide or sometimes salicylic acid to remove the acne, but sometimes these can have detrimental effects on the person suffering from acne.

Sometimes acne become extreme and in most cases medicines are given to the patient to take so that severe acne is treated and sometimes eliminated. There are also some instances where people are told to stop eating certain food types since these are identified as acne triggers.

If a solution cannot be discovered, then it may be best to consult a dermatologist in order to identify the true cause of the acne problem before trying out other cures. Some people do not think this is a practical move since acne happens to everybody. Still, it is always best to consult specialists because they know more than just myths and common practices. This is because aside from the validated cause of acne, there are also other triggers such as hormonal imbalances and wrong facial care practices.

Suffering from acne problems? Visit your nearest dermatologist now and ask for acne treatment solutions as soon as possible.

Acne Scars And The Most Effective Treatment Selections Available

October 20th, 2010

Scarring left by acne can cause a person to have a low self-esteem. We may have endured a constant crop of pimples on our face during our teenage years. It’s one of those challenges that we had to deal with while growing up. Some persons outgrow their pimples but suffer permanently from the scarring these pustules leave behind.

The basic contributing factor for acne is an overactive sebaceous gland, which usually comes about when a person is an adolescent. Oil generated by the sebaceous glands can trap dirt within one’s skin pores. Dirt and oil that mingle in the clogged environment is the perfect habitat for bacterial growth. These bacteria then cause the pus-filled bumps we know as pimples.

Pimple scars have four basic kinds, which are as follows. Pit-like scars left by pimples are also called ice-pick scars. Another type is called rolling scar. Rolling scars have a shallow and broad depth. Scars that are usually located on the sides of the head or on the cheeks are known as boxcar-type acne scars; these scars are somewhat similar to scars caused by chickenpox, having angular and well-defined edges. Meanwhile, bumpy tissues on the surface of the skin are known as either keloidal or hypertrophic scars.

You must not lose hope, nevertheless. Highly qualified dermatologists assure that pimple scars will respond to treatment. Ideally, treatment for scarring should start while the scars are still new. When handled early on, the acne scar disappears faster. Nevertheless, dermatologists can still help a person regain their skin’s radiance even if the scars caused by acne are already old.

The best methods to fight acne scarring are chemical peels and the application of specially formulated lotions. These processes encourage the exfoliation of the topmost layer of the epidermis so as to reveal a smoother skin layer.

The utilization of a diamond tip to exfoliate dead skin cells is known, in medical terms, as microdermabrasion. The method is quite fast, which lasts for about 1 hour to 1 1/2 hours; thus, no downtime is required for the person undergoing the procedure. Microdermabrasion is the recommended procedure to treat heavily pigmented skin, sun-damaged skin, and – of course – acne scars.

In case the acne scar is quite heavy or really old, a number of treatment sessions might be necessary in order to completely restore the skin to its natural radiance.

Which Is The Best Skin Care Product?

September 24th, 2010

Everybody would like to know the answer the to question: which is the best skin care product? It is the $1,000,000 question. However, it is not a practical question. Why not? Solely, because there are at least three diverse skin types: dry, normal and oily.

There are also variations of these, including sensitive skin. Furthermore, not all the skin on your body is of the same type either. The question should be: which is the best skin care product for me?

So, if it genuinely is your mission to find out which is the best skin care product for you, then you first have to have your skin type appraised by an expert in skin care. This may cost you a few dollars, but it will prevent you buying skin care goods that are unsuitable for yourself for many years, which would be a bigger waste of money.

In fact, our skin can alter type quite often in our lives. It normally has something to do with hormonal changes for both men and women, so it could be a good idea to get a professional judgment on your skin type every five years or less.

The fact of the matter is that, how you apply your skin care products is equally, if not more important than the brand of your skin care products that you employ. How often you use them is also critically important. Therefore, no matter what you decide on buying, you must read the instruction leaflet and abide by it.

We all tend to be distrustful of manufacturers’ recommendations because they all recommend slapping it on generously, so that you have to purchase more, but in fact, you have to follow their course of action at least for one tub and then make up your mind whether you want to jump ship. It should go without saying that, if the instruction booklet is sketchy or unintelligible, that you should not buy that product.

Be wary of purchasing skin care preparations when you are abroad. You may see the name of your favourite product being sold really cheaply in the duty free shop, when you are on holiday in a foreign country, but that product may have been customized to suit the climate of that country. For example, moisturizer for people with dry skin may not have the same properties in Thailand as would have in Iceland.

Other general hints on getting the most from your skin care products is to rub on them onto a clean surface. That means that it is better to clean off your makeup with makeup remover than it is to use soap and water. Toner and exfoliant will also make it easier get down to your real skin.

The last point is that you may not be able to make a decision on the effectiveness of your skin care product over night. If things appear to be progressing well, then great, carry on, you may find out later that there is something better, but if you realize that a skin care product is not right for you, then reject it and move on in your quest for finding out which is the best skin care product for you.

Intervention For Acne Scars To Completely Leave Your Acne In The Past

September 20th, 2010

General and profound acne cases are prevalent among numerous young individuals in their adolescent years. Doctors for the most part blame hormones as the principal cause of this skin condition that leaves many teenagers sustaining low self-esteem. Acne are red bumps or pimples on the skin which, in deeper cases, can even have pus or cysts; making it ugly.

After successfully quelling the increment of acne through over-the-counter, home, and doctor-assisted treatment, the fight against this skin condition does not finish just yet. Acne scars have to be dealt with. Serious acne particularly the type which has spread all over the face, head, and back may leave deep and unsightly acne scars that necessitate effort to hide or make less viewable.

Do consult with your dermatologist for which intervention is most relevant to you. The rationale behind acne scar intervention is basically about causing a standard injury to the level of the skin, either by burning it or through operation, to even out the scars or marks and to give way to fresh skin during curing.

Laser light. The employ of laser light cuts the surface of the skin and heats the inner layer of the skin to get rid of uneven marks and to further new skin formation. This is a pain-free procedure. Depending on the severity of the scars, several sessions may be required. Scars that are not too profound can be gone for good with several sessions.

Dermarollers. This procedure makes use of a wire brush that rotates so fast, and then is rolled onto the skin, to remove the outer skin layer. This may cause some stinging sensation on the skin, but is a dependable way to remove surface scars.

Filling treatment. A collagen or gel is put in or filled into the recessed acne scar so that it appears even with the surface of the skin and less accessible as a scar. If and when dermabrasion and laser light beams fail, filling treatment can help even the skin surface and make the scars go away, but only while the fill lasts. Just like Botox, instant results can be had from a filling treatment, but you have to have the patience to keep coming back to the skin doctor for maintenance.

Operation. In worst cases, a small surgery is essential to make acne scars less viewable. A cut or incision is made onto the individual acne scar to repair it with skin grafts, or with natural skin which may form while the wounds heal.

You don’t have to endure the trouble from acne and acne scars. Acne intervention and acne scar removal can be achievable if you talk to the dermatologist who can help you every step of the way.

In cases where surgery may be needed for women to regain a more pleasant appearance, including weight loss and treatments for acne, remember to talk only to experts.. This article, Intervention For Acne Scars To Completely Leave Your Acne In The Past has free reprint rights.

The Treatment Of Wrinkles

September 16th, 2010

As in most fields, there have been tremendous leaps in progress in beauty and wellness over the last decade or so. Included in these topics is the subject of wrinkles. There are many ways to treat wrinkles and you now have the choice of reducing them or completely eradicating them.

Therapy can be topical or cosmetic and the latter can include surgery. The total eradication of wrinkles would involve surgery.

Here follows some of the most general methods of treating wrinkles from topical treatments, creams and lotions to cosmetic treatments and surgery.

Vitamin A Acid: VAA is also identified as tretinoin and can be bought in such commercial packages as Retin-A and Renova. Vitamin A Acid is the oldest and most widely tested chemical for treating wrinkles, fine lines and aging skin, especially around the eyes. This topical treatment is normally bought as a constituent of creams and they must be applied as indicated on the tub on a regular basis.

There are a couple of known side effects but they often fade away quite soon. These side effects are reddening and peeling of the skin, but this can also be ameliorated by weakening the strength of the cream until your skin has become used to the chemical.

Alpha-hydroxy Acids: also called “fruit acids”, include active ingredients like glycolic and lactic acid. Skin care treatments containing fruit acids leave very little or no skin soreness at all, but they are also less successful than VAA.

Antioxidants: are applied topically in creams such as sunscreen. The antioxidants utilized are usually preparations of vitamins A, C and E. They often include Beta-carotene as well. These sunscreens will provide protection against the sun and provide mild treatment for the fine wrinkles that the sun causes at the same time.

TIP: Some moisturizers promise to cope with wrinkles, but you should check the contents label, if they do not include any of the above then they cannot do what they promise.

Glycolic Acid peels: these peels are only superficial and so cannot do much to hide wrinkles, although they do have an effect on fine lines.

Deep Peels: these peels usually involve salicylic acid or and trichloroacetic acid. These acids penetrate deeper into the skin. It is thought that the deeper the treatment the more successful the eradication of wrinkles. However, the deeper the peel, the more chance of side-effects too. Side effects include, pain or irritation and long term pigmentation changes and scarring. Mild sedation may be needed during the deep peel.

Microdermabrasion; this procedure may be likened to using a circular sander to strip paint from an old door. A machine uses silica or aluminium crystals to sand the skin down to a level where the wrinkles do not exist. They will make the skin smoother after six or seven sessions.

Dermabrasion: is the full sanding job under a general anesthetic. It is normally carried out by a plastic surgeon or a dermatologist. It can also create side-effects like scarring and permanent changes in skin color.

A Face-Off With Acne Scars

August 20th, 2010

Acne scars have a drastic consequence on the mental and emotional states of health of a person. A majority of us, in our youth, may have experienced a severe case of acne; it is one of those miserable and trying personal trials-by-fire most of us face up to while growing up. First, we had to deal with the reddish pimples, and then, we had to cope with the scarring that is afterwards left behind.

Bacteria are pointed out as the major cause of pus-filled nodules. Bacteria live on skin pores that are blocked up with grime and sebum.

A number of us will move to adulthood and be zit-free. Nonetheless, acne scars do not always fade with time, and this can cause woe to some.

There are four basic types of acne scars. Ice pick scars got their name because they are pit-like marks on the skin. Boxcar scars are commonly spread over on the sides of the head and the cheeks, and they could resemble scars left after a case of varicella (that is, chickenpox). Keloidal and hypertrophic scars could be easily identified because of their raised surfaces. Rolling scars produce shallow hollows on the skin.

Controlled studies prove that facial scars can have major psychological effects on a person, such as low sense of self-worth, depression, and suicidal tendencies.

Still, it is not yet time to lose hope. Every day, scientific advancements in the treatment of skin imperfections are being rolled out. For example, there are laser treatments, creams, dermabrasion methods, and injections that are presently being developed to treat acne scars. Get in touch your physician and talk about the most suitable procedure for you.
