Wrinkle Cream – Fight The Battle All Year Long

October 22nd, 2011

None of us are ready to accept the lifelong struggle against aging, but it is real, it’s going to happen … aging, that is.We can sit back and do nothing, or we can act, now.Our options are many, but our first port of call should be an effective wrinkle cream.Distinguishing between all the dozens of various brands on offer, is not so easy though, so take your time and do some evaluating.

People have to realise that most will have some effect or other on those imposing wrinkles. Some of them will achieve good results while others will fail to make any improvement at all.Unfortunately, the only way to find a product suitable for you, is to do your research.Even then this is difficult, as some products work for some people but do absolutely nothing for others.

Doing your research will allow you to look for a few small samples that you can try, from what is on offer.Going online to do this research is a good starting place, but have a plan to work with, as the vast amount of information available can make it a daunting task.Choose some products that would suit a person with a skin type that matches that of your own, then some some and experiment.

When you enter the experimentation phase, you’ll begin to find out why the process is so critical and can actually be both frustrating and rewarding. Some of your test products will totally fail, others will seem to work and then not so much. Only after going through this process can you identify the wrinkle cream that seems to work best for you. After you have identified the product, or products, that seem to work for you, it is important that you remain committed to the process.

You need to have a strong belief that the items you have identified will work, with your continued commitment every single day. With no other product is it more true than with wrinkle cream, daily application is a must, even possibly twice, both day and night.

To be able to achieve the result you require from your wrinkle cream, accept from the beginning that it will not happen if you use it infrequently.Your night out at the weekend is not the time to start thinking about curing your wrinkles. It has to be every day, like clockwork. You will definitely see results, if you remain consistent.

If you’re not getting the results you desire, be prepared to make any changes necessary along the way, to achieve the results you crave for.Remaining loyal is great, but only if the benefits are forthcoming.Should no further improvement become apparent, you may need to change direction, and move on to the next product and begin testing it.

Nevertheless, if you are benefiting from using a product, then don’t be tempted to change it.It’s taken you time and money to find a winner, now persevere and keep using it.

Skincare Tips – Moisturizing

July 30th, 2011

There are many popular moisturizing ingredients including collagen and hyaluronic acid. People expect instant moisturizing effect from the application of skincare products that contain such ingredients. In fact, hyaluronic acid helps lock water in skin, but not hydrates it. Therefore, it works best together with hydrating ingredients like jojoba oil and Vaseline. Otherwise, it may turn your skin even drier.

Facial mask is another way to hydrate your skin. It provides an instant boost of moisture in skin. But, unless you apply moisturizing skincare products (essence and cream) afterwards, the moisture may not be locked in skin. Besides, your skin may be irritated by the large amount of nutrients of facial masks.

Facial toner, though is in liquid form, it is not designed for hydrating skin. Facial toner is the last step of cleansing in western skincare concept while it is the first step of skincare in eastern skincare concept. In fact, it is the skincare product that helps the absorption of skincare products that are applied afterwards.

Facial sprays are largely composed of water and thermal water. Though these sprays provide instant moisture to skin, they do not provide a good moisturizing effect (locking water in skin). It is because facial sprays contain large amount of trace minerals but not moisturizing ingredients. Therefore, without proper moisturizing action afterwards, frequent spraying may lead to drier skin.

All-in-one products (skincare products that provide multiple functions such as whitening, moisturizing, anti-aging) seem powerful, but actually it is not. With the many functions of an all-in-one skincare product, the efficacy of each function is probably reduced. Therefore, it is not advised to hydrate and moisturize your skin with all-in-one products during dry weather.

Most people consider essences provide more powerful effect in moisturizing. That is why essences are sold at a higher price. In fact, essences provide deep down moisturizing effect. But, creams and moisturizers help lock water on the outer layer of skin. Without moisturizer, skin may be dry (applying essences only).

Eastern Skincare History

April 12th, 2011

Whitening is one of the hottest skincare concerns, especially in the eastern world. Easterners (particularly Japanese and Chinese) think that white skin covers a hundred of other skin imperfections. As Japanese and Chinese have yellowish complexion, whitening skincare products are the best selling products among all other skincare products in China and Japan.

In ancient China, people with white skin (or lighter complexion) were considered as elegant, well educated, noble and of higher social class. Since the ancient Zhou Dynasty (1046 to 256 BC), there has been an oracle word representing women washing their faces.

Since the ancient Qin Dynasty (221 to 205 BC), there have been records on Chinese medicines that have beauty functions. For example, there were records about using Angelica Dahurica (Bai Zhi) for making facial cream.

Skincare products including facial and hand creams were popular among both ordinary and noble women. Skincare products were considered as necessary by every woman.

Skincare was also a big concern of women in ancient Japan. At that time, there was only dim light in house at the night time. People with light complexion were easier to be noticed at night and were less likely to be crashed. As such, women with light complexion have been considered as more beautiful. That is why you may notice that women’s face is always colored in white in Japanese paintings.

The first whitening skincare product, SOIE DE REINE Beauty C Powder was introduced in Japan in 1966. This powder was produced by the famous Japanese skincare brand, Kanebo. Kanebo introduced many other whitening skincare products later on and it is still a famous skincare brand nowadays. In the last century, the concepts of UV protection and Melanin reduction have been introduced by Kanebo. Now, these concepts are still prevailing in skincare (skin whitening) industry.

What is propolis? Propolis is a mixture of resin, bee wax, pollen and secretions from bees. Resin and bee wax are the main components of propolis. They comprise 85 percent of propolis in total. The remaining 15 percent is mainly essential oil and bee pollen. According to scientists, there are 38 essential acids for human. Propolis contains 30 of these essential acids. Besides, propolis is effective in inhibiting the growth of bacteria and protozoa.

Propolis is luxurious and has been proved to be good for skin and health. Propolis contains more than 50 different types of flavonoids. Flavonoid promotes skin health by facilitating blood circulation, decomposing pigments and preventing skin aging. Besides, propolis contains almost all kinds of vitamins, especially vitamin P (in rutin), which strengthen cell walls.

Resin is the most abundant component in propolis. Resin is largely made of collagen and elastin. About one third of the proteins in our body are collagen and elastin. Collagen and elastin are important substances in the growth of skin cells, blood vessels, muscles, bone and teeth. It also helps hydrate skin, facilitate collagen synthesis and rejuvenate skin cells.

Bee wax comprises approximately 30 percent of propolis. Bee wax itself is composed of high quality fatty acids and esters. Bee wax is effective in reducing fine lines and wrinkles, therefore are often used as ingredients in skincare products. In addition, eating bee wax directly helps remove dead skin, which promotes smooth and acne free skin.

Bee pollens comprise only 5 percent of propolis, but they are very nutritive to skin. It is because the major component pollens is protein (amino acids). As skin is largely made of protein, the amino acids in bee pollens promote skin growth and wound recovery.

Causes of Facial Spots

November 28th, 2010

Pressure is one of the most common internal causes of spots and freckles. The secretion of adrenaline increases in order to tackle the pressure when a person is under pressure. If such adrenaline is in a high secretion for sometimes, our body metabolism will be affected. When metabolism is affected, the nutrition supply to our skin is also affected. Therefore, spots and freckles may be formed due to the high activity of pigment cells. Therefore, it is important to relief your pressure regularly.

Other than abnormal metabolism, dark spots are resulted because of malfunction of ovaries. Ovaries control secretion of certain hormones. When it is unable to function normally, hormonal disorder may be resulted. Hormonal disorder increases the activities of pigment cells and causes the formation of dark spots and freckles. In order to prevent malfunction of ovaries, you should maintain a healthy diet and life style.

External factors like UV radiation is also a common cause for dark spots and freckles. UV radiation causes damages to skin cells. In order to protect our skin from such damages, skin cells produce a dark pigment called melanin. Dark spots and freckles are caused by such melanin. Therefore, in order to reduce dark spots, we need to reduce the production melanin. We can protect our skin with sun care products (SPF 15 or above) which reduces the production of melanin.

Ingredients in skincare and cosmetic products may also lead to formation of spots and wrinkles. When you skin is irritated by skincare and cosmetic products and that your skin is exposed to UV radiations before recovery, melanin will accumulate at the irritated areas and leads to the formation of spots and freckles. Avoid using the “fast action” skincare and cosmetic products as they are more likely to contain irritating ingredients.

Facial cleansing is the first step of skincare procedures. This procedure benefits your skin only if you can do it properly. Otherwise, it may make you skin even more sensitive and lead to over production of melanin. Once when melanin is produced, you are likely to have more spots and freckles.

Therefore, it is important to learn the correct ways of facial cleansing. First, you should get yourself a mild facial cleanser (pH 4.5 to 6.5). Cleanse your face twice a day (at most 3 times a day). Cleanse your face with lukewarm water instead of hot or cold water. Gently massage your face and rinse away the cleanser thoroughly. Apply facial toner immediately after cleansing to soothe and moisturize your skin.

Skin Whitening Injection

November 22nd, 2010

Every woman wishes her skin to be radiant, bright and blemish free. But, whitening creams may not be effective. As people living in Asian countries like Taiwan, Hong Kong and Singapore have a darker complexion compared to western people, a new way of skin whitening; skin whitening injection is becoming more and more popular. Skin whitening injection is similar to the injection of Botox and Hyaluronic acid except it is designed for skin whitening instead of wrinkle reducing.

For a whitening injection, the substances to be injected into your bodies are mainly anti-oxidizing agents. The substances may include Glutathione, Transamin and Vitamin C, which are well known effective substances in skin whitening. Other than whitening, these substances help detoxify, control melanin and facilitate body metabolism, etc. Some injection providers combine the idea of whitening injection with Chinese Medical Science by adding herbal extracts into the whitening injection.

As whitening injection does no permanent change to your body like plastic surgeries, the effect of such injection is not permanent as well. A regular re-application is required if you wish to maintain the whitening effect. Melanin is the dark pigment produced by skin cells for skin protection. Because of the continuous melanin production, your skin will return to its original skin tone if there is no regular re-application.

In order to determine whether to take such whitening injection, safety is another important factor to consider. In fact, most of whitening injections are done by privately owned clinics and beauty salons in Asian countries. These clinics and beauty salons claim that the injection is safe in their advertisement. In fact, there is no strict and clear control and standard over such injection. Besides, the cost of whitening injection varies significantly from $750 to $1200.

Because of the lack of standard and control, whitening injection is not highly recommended by dermatologic experts. Experts are not sure about the effectiveness and safety of such whitening injection. In addition, they concern that steroid hormone may be included in such injection, which will induce dependence and skin inflammation.

What these experts recommend is to include certain oxidizing foods instead of injecting oxidizing substance into our bodies. These oxidizing foods include grapes, blueberries and tomatoes. These foods are rich in Vitamin C and oxidizing agents which fight again free radicals and hence brighten skin complexion. Meanwhile, applying whitening essences and facial masks externally provide you longer and more visible whitening effect.
